Description of MEDISTAT
MEDISTAT is designed to record and help interpret laboratory results,
more specifically pathology results. It stores the results of
several tests over a number of time periods. The MediStat
program provides several methods of assisting the user in
analyzing the data. One method in which the MediStat program
assists the user is by providing two different graphical views
of the data. By interpreting the data graphically for the user,
the program allows the user to use their own pattern matching
abilities to interpret the data. The other method that the
program provides is a primitive diagnosis ability that can make
recommendations based on the data available. The design
and implementation used object-oriented and hypertext techniques.
I was involved with the architecture, design, and implementation of
this project and I was also the project manager for this research
sponsored by Lifespan Research Institute and University Park Pathology
Associates.
A paper called Probability Graphics Support for Medical
Reasoning was written describing the tool and techniques
in more details. |
